4 Easy Ways to Keep Your Home Healthy During Cold & Flu Season

As a mom, you know how important it is to keep your family healthy, especially during cold and flu season. While it may seem impossible to keep your home free of germs, there are some simple steps you can take to promote a healthy and clean environment for your family. Here are some quick tips for keeping your home healthy and clean during the cold and flu season.

1. Encourage lots of hand washing

First and foremost, make sure to frequently wash your hands and encourage your family members to do the same (shocking, I know). But, this is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of germs. Make hand washing a little more fun by letting your kids pick out their “special” soap bottle, singing a song and using a sticker chart with a small reward after so many completed hand washes (i.e. favorite snack, favorite movie, outdoor play, etc.)

2. Disinfect your home regularly

Be sure to disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches, countertops, phones & tablets on a regular basis. Find a cleaning product that is an all in one disinfectant that is safe for kids and pets so you can easily grab and use at any time, here’s my favorite that I use on almost every piece of my home.

3. Purify your indoor air

It’s also important to maintain good indoor air quality. This can be achieved by regularly changing furnace filters, opening windows for fresh air circulation, avoiding scented plug ins and candles, getting plants that filter the air and investing in a quality air purifier, like this one that removes dust, pet odors and allergens. 4. Take care of yourself

Finally, don’t forget to take care of yourself and your family’s overall health. Make sure everyone is getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet, drinking water, and staying active to boost their immune systems. I know this is easier said than done, but just doing what you can makes a big difference.
