Simple, Inexpensive, Minimalist Christmas Tablescape
What I love about tablescapes is that it is the quickest way to fix your creativity craving. There’s an instant gratification from a project that’s not super messy or requires paint.
Well, that’s what happened last week. I was aching for a little bit of decor normalcy in our chaotic house that feels overtaken by fur and cat food (if you’ve been following my house cleanout, you’ll know what I mean… if you haven’t, head over here.)
So here’s a birdseye view of the table. I used our existing plates everyday plates since it’s the only set we have right now. I was, however, happy with how great the navy played with all the natural elements on the table. For napkins, I just used the paper napkins we had on hand. I’d much rather have some beautiful, patterned cloth ones but being on the budget we are, this tablescape had to be no-cost, so paper napkins it is. The hammered silverware was also our existing silverware which I love!
It’s hard to see in the above picture, but the centerpiece is actually a candleholder that I had laying around. I wanted to add some height to the table without it being bulky on our small table so this piece worked perfectly.
On either side of the centerpiece, I wanted to add some metal and color to balance the natural elements of the centerpiece so copper felt like the perfect accent. And can we just take a moment to appreciate this sexy, little candlestick?
On the other side, I added this copper bowl I’ve been using as a candle holder and set both pieces on these small, teal saucers I had laying around for some good contrast.
In almost all areas of my decor, I incorporate a candle that was made by my Grandpa who is no longer with us. These beautiful candles are all one of a kind and bring a smile to my face every time I see them. I picked this neutral, brown one to put in the center to keep with the natural color scheme.
The small, white saucers are for holing herbed olive oil for the bread. I love the brightness they bring with their stark white.
These salt and pepper shakers were my other Grandma and Grandpa’s I just love the style of them! I also threw in this little straw ornament I had laying around to add some interest to the greenery.
Here’s the top view with the copper mugs instead of wine glasses. This is also a perfect view of the runner I used that was made by my Great Grandma.
All the greenery is natural and cut from my front yard!
This beautiful DIY twine vase is part of a set of three and was made by my mom for our wedding, and I absolutely adore them! It’s so versatile and brings a bit of simplicity and texture to any vignette. For this one, I just added some of the greens from my front yard to add color. The platter was also a DIY from the wedding, just a metallic rimmed saucer attached to a candlestick. The picture frames in the background were a quick DIY project I did a couple weeks ago by filling them with some metallic scrapbook paper.
